Determined. Dedicated. Protector. Independent. Strong. These are but a few words that describe Sharon Marie Kirk, 71, of Oak Hill, formerly of Alabama, who passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at her home. She was born on April 4, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of the late Ervin and Lavitia (Hickman) Kirk. Sharon was a beautiful soul who was always sure to stay positive in any situation life would throw at her. An artist at heart she loved decorating, painting, and “making everything beautiful.” A Christian by faith, Sharon could find joy anywhere at any time. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make others laugh especially when spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed antiques, flowers (particularly roses), and shopping, always on the lookout for a good bargain at any area yard sale. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving family: daughters, Shannon Childree (Jon), Eugenia Catteeuw (William “Scooter”), and Corrina Reyes; grandchildren: Rick Kirk “Dink” Reyes, Michael Walters (Marissa), Kaylyn Mae Beam, Nicholas Eugene Beam, Sean Douglas Beam (Destiny), Ian Childree, Lucas Oder, Brandon Dale Beam (Brook Creech); great-grandchildren: Millie Reyes, Calvin Beam, Gabriel Beam, Chance Walters, Liam Walters, and Kendrick Chatt-Beam; two brothers, Larry Duwayne Kirk and Robert Kirk (Sophia); a sister, Virginia Lee Gilbert (Charles); former husband and love of her life, Willmer Eugene Reyes; as well as several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Lucky.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, D.J. Beam, and a sister, Arlinda Carol Hare.
In keeping with Sharon’s wishes her body will be cremated and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date.
