Mary Elizabeth Skaggs-Jeffries, 85, of Albany, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020, at her home. She was born on December 11, 1934, in Lewis County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Carl and Daisy (Tackett) Holsinger. One of 21 children, Mary was a beautiful, warm-hearted individual who loved spending time with her many relatives and friends. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, reading, and working cross word books. A Christian by faith, Mary was also an ordained minister in the Mount Carmel Christian Church on July 25, 1999. Her time in ministry touched many lives and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughters: Karen (Ron) Hayes and Tamara (Jimmy) Keener; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jeffries in 2003; sons, Dannie and Russ Skaggs; as well as an infant son, Hubert Skaggs.
The family will receive friends at R.M. Williams Funeral Service on Friday, June 12, 2020, from noon until 1 p.m.. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will follow commencing at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Cecil Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
