John Fitzpatrick Lifestory

John E. Fitzpatrick, 85, of Wilkesville, passed away on January 17, 2023, at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born November 17, 1937, in Radcliff, Ohio, son of the late Thomas and Opal (Graves) Fitzpatrick. John spent his career in education as a teacher and administrator at Frankfort Schools and Columbus Public Schools. He received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University, his master’s degree from Xavier University, and took additional hours from the Ohio State University. He retired in 1989 and moved back to the Fitzpatrick Orchard home place. John loved working on his hobby farm and caring for his apple trees.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathryn, whom he married in 1983; son, John Lyle (Michele); grandson, Brandon (Sierra); step-granddaughter, Whitney (Eric); and great grandchildren, Liam, Artemis, and Bella. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Ron Davis, and sister-in-law, Virginia; as well as nephews, Gary Alan Huston, and Shawn Huston, and niece, Shannon Huston.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Huston.

John was a 50 year member of Orphans Friend #275 of Wilkesville, Ohio, a 60 year member of the Grand Lodge of Ohio, 50 year member of the Scottish Rite of McArthur #102; the Aladdin Shrine of Columbus, and Wilkesville Chapter #207 Order of the Eastern Star. He lived a life of service to others and always was willing to lend a helping hand. He had a great personality and enjoyed a good tease or joke. He will be greatly missed by many.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 23, 2023, in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston, from 10 until 12 noon. A masonic service will commence at 12:15 p.m., with a funeral service celebrating John’s life to follow. Pastors Ann Moody and John Pelletier officiating. Burial will then follow in Athens Memory Gardens, Athens, Ohio.
