Harold Dean Lambert Lifestory

Harold Dean Lambert, 65, of Gallipolis, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 8, 1954, in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Lee and Virginia (Miller) Lambert. Dean was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He was formerly employed with the Waterloo Coal Company. He enjoyed being outdoors especially on good weather days…riding his motorcycle or having cookouts. He especially enjoyed smoking and grilling steak for his family and friends to enjoy. He was an avid Bengals fan and avid hater all at the same time. He had a good sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

Over the years, Dean was very active in the Wellston community. He was a member of the American Legion, Post # 371 and the V.F.W., Post # 9092 and spent several years coaching sports. Most recently he initiated and over saw the revamping of the flagpole at the Wellston High School Veterans Field. This was something he was very proud of.  Another cause “near and dear” to Dean was organ donation. Five years ago, Dean received the gift of life and was the recipient of a double lung transplant. It was his desire to encourage all who can to give the gift of life through organ donation.

He is survived by his loving family: wife, Melanie; children, Rachael Sharp (Robert Creeger), Deanna Smith (Jeremy Coffey), Jamie Lambert, Tim Lambert (Jessie), Matthew Haskins (January); and Megan Haskins; 19 grandchildren, Slone, Austin, Mackensie, Hunter, Tyson, Jade, Connor, Carrsen, Macie, Maggie, Mason, Lindsey, Madison, Sarah, Ben, Nick, Jordan, Judah, and Michaela; Brothers, Jerry Prinzbach (Rose), Tim Lambert (Teri), and Kevin Lambert; sisters, Margie Pigge (Fred), Jenny Kisor (Glen), and Kathy Lathey; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Dale, Ronnie, and Donnie Lambert; and sisters, Cheryl Nagel and Susie Lambert.

The family will receive friends at R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston, on Saturday, March 14, 2020, from 11 to 2 p.m., where a funeral service celebrating Dean’s life will follow commencing at 2:00 p.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Byer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions in Dean’s name be given to the cause of maintaining the flagpole at W.H.S. Veterans Field. An account has been set up at People Bank.
