William Carl Salmons

September 23, 1940 — February 10, 2017

William Carl Salmons, 76, of Wellston, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. He was born on September 23, 1940 in Hamden, Ohio, son of the late William Elbert and Katherine (Watkins) Salmons. Carl proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a very skilled mechanic and restorative artist who thoroughly enjoyed working on and restoring old automobiles. He loved trucks and tractors, hard work and the occasional loafing at A&A Truck Stop. (Ok, who are we kidding, he hung out at the Truck Stop all the time.) In his younger years, Carl trained horses and participated in numerous horse races as well as coached basketball and was a former City of Wellston Councilman. An outdoorsman at heart, he was always on the go living life to the fullest-helping others when he could. He will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Minnie (Hollingshead) Salmons; sons, Rusty, Jason (Linda), Jeremy (Emily), Cody, and James (Stephanie); daughters, Tina (Michael) Spanos, Tammy Mulhern, Linda Chesser, Debbie Brown and Amanda Mullings; 28 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Marie (Mitchell) Lovely, and Twila June Bentley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many friends.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by one grandchild, one great-grandchild; as well as two sisters, Elsie Jane Zinn and Ellen Salmons.

A funeral service celebrating Carl’s life will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Hamden Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m.
