Tristan A. Steele

Tristan A. Steele, 24, of Zaleski, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023. He was born January 1, 1999, in Athens, Ohio, son of Keith Steele and the late Mary Yocum. Tristian was a 2017 graduate of Vinton County High School and was currently employed with DAM Construction as a paver operator, a skill he’s been honing since his grandpa started him at 14 years old. Tristan had a big personality and was always the “life of the party.” He was kind, caring, and would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved football and basketball as well as his two dogs, Dino and Snuggs. He will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his father, Keith; paternal grandma, Lisa Amerine; maternal grandparents, Linda and John Ward; sisters, Gia Steele, Brynn Steele, Lizzie Matteson, and Kadance Matteson; a brother, Christopher Matteson; uncle, Kyle Steele; aunts, Nikki Sowers, Kelly Ward, and Stefanie Yocum; great uncle, Mike and Cooki Amerine; as well as best friends, Shaun Amerine, Ethan Perry, and Ian Reffit.

In addition to his mother, Mary, Tristan was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Shirlene and Dean Amerine; and grandpas, Jeff Steele and Steve Lemay.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Zaleski.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Tristan’s name may be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
