Sam W. Rayburn

Sam W. Rayburn, 60, of Hamden, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. He was born on December 18, 1965, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, the son of the late Sterling Wallace and Iva Pearl Rayburn. Sam spent many years in Meigs County, Ohio, before relocating to Hamden. He worked as a volunteer for 7 years at the Mulberry Community Center. He was affectionately known as “Coffee Man Sam.” He was a gentle soul who loved the outdoors, walking, and witnessing for Christ. He will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his friend and caregiver, Vicki Coy; his cousins, Timothy Long, Lisa Venoy, Rodney Long, Donna Long, Dennis Long, Bill Krackomberger, Steve Kracomberger, Melissa VanMeter, and Adam Wolfe; as well as many other cousins and friends from his time in Meigs County.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his brother, Sterling “Punky” Rayburn; infant sister, Marie; and friend, Everett Coy, who was like a father to him.

A funeral service celebrating Sam’s life will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston. Burial will follow in Chester Cemetery, Pomeroy.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home, also on Monday, two hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
