Rebecca "Susie" S. (Welker) Lawrence

Rebecca Sue “Susie” Lawrence, 77, of McArthur, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at her home. She was born June 15, 1946, in Dundas, Ohio, daughter of the late William Scott and Betty Faye (Peck) Welker. Throughout her life, Susie worked at the Austin Powder Company, and babysat many children with whom she formed very special bonds with that remain to this day. A Christian by faith, she attended Renovate Life Church of God, and enjoyed reading her bible daily. She also kept a prayer journal where she recorded prayer requests that were made known to her so she wouldn’t forget to bring that need before God. If she said she would pray for you, she really meant it. Always doing things for others, Susie could be found cooking or baking for various events and family. She enjoyed reading books, being outdoors walking, listening to the birds, or looking at the flowers; ultimately basking in the presence of the beauty of God’s creation. Susie will be remembered as a person who loved big: especially God, her husband Jerry, and her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by many.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Lawrence; daughters, Tami Stewart, Kristin Thacker (Dennis), Natalie Perry (Dwuane), and Tammy Jo Miller; five grandchildren, Cody Thomas, Lukas Huston, Khloe Thacker, Brooke Trainer, and Derek Trainer (Heidi); two great granddaughters, Kinlee Thomas and Mckenna Walker; as well as a few special children she babysat and was like a second mother, Phillip Lash, Sarah Norton, and Kate Motiani.

In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Welker and a son-in-law, John Stewart.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 17, 2024, from noon until 2 p.m., at the Renovate Life Church of God in McArthur. A funeral service celebrating Susie’s life will follow commencing at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor James Dimel officiating. Burial will follow in Elk Cemetery.
