Ottie Van Wiseman

July 31, 1951 — January 13, 2017

Ottie Van Wiseman, 65, of Hamden, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. He was born on July 31, 1951 in Vinton County, Ohio, son of the late Ottie Andrew Wiseman and Dolores (Humphrey) Wiseman, who survives.

Van liked fishing, playing cards, watching his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, NASCAR, and M*A*S*H. Although he didn’t like to clean up the mess afterwards, he enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning, a love he surely inherited from his father. A very talented entertainer and musician, Van very much delighted in playing his guitar and singing for his family and friends at the local V.F.W. and other venues such as family picnics and bonfires.  He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion, Mary Cox; son, Bart (Dana) Wiseman; grandson, Barton; sister, Kay (Bill) Libby; brother, Richard Wiseman (Mary Bay); nieces, Deidra Libby and Michelle Barnes; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jolene Wiseman.

A funeral service celebrating Van’s life will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston, with Pastor Troy Ervin officiating. Burial will follow in Hamden Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 2 to 8 p.m.
