Michael Ray Wright

Michael Wright, 66, of Wellston, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. He was born February 2, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Hassell and Myra (Hall) Wright. Michael was a 1975 graduate of Wellston High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a hard worker who went on to drive a semi-truck for 25+ years. A member of the N.R.A., Michael enjoyed being outdoors and shooting his guns. He loved working on his small farm and caring for his chickens, as well as watching his favorite television station, the History Channel. A friend to many, he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Hubbard Wright; children, Michelle, Michael Jr., Stephanie, and Kyle (Rebecca) Wright; a special nephew who was like a son, Bobby Long; and nine grandchildren, Elijah and Payton Downard, Paisely Spears, Chassity and Schyler Wright, Roman Walker, Zoey Wright, and Rylee and Damian Hively.

In addition to his parents, Michael Was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Long.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of services, in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston where a funeral service will follow commencing at 1:00 p.m. with Fred Crabtree officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Byer Cemetery.
