Maxine H. (Long) Mossman, 96, of Oak Hill, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2022, at her home following a short illness. She was born November 27, 1925, in Jackson County, Ohio, daughter of the late Glen and Lillian Long. Maxine retired from Kohl’s Retail store as a manager in Concord, California. She was also employed by the FBI. She was married 46 years to Bert William “Bill” Mossman, Jr, who preceded her in death. Maxine enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles.
In addition to her husband, Bill, Maxine was also preceded in death by her son, Douglas Michael “Mike” Mossman; brothers, Willard (Jessie), Carl (Frances), Edgar (Ada) , and Wayne Long; a sister, Darlene Murray; nieces, Barbara Long Reynolds, and Joyce Kinney West; and a nephew, Willard “Skip” Long.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristine (Ronald) Conger; a grandson, Troy Hernandez; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
A memorial service, celebrating Maxine’s life will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston, with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to share their favorite “Aunt Max” story with the crowd.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Maxine’s name may be made to Adena Hospice, 2077 Western Avenue, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
