Maurice Lee Vititoe

Maurice Lee Vititoe, 77, of Chillicothe, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the V.A. Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born on August 27, 1938 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Walter W. and Evelyn E. (Steele) Vititoe. Lee graduated from Wittenberg University and later proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and retired from DFAS in Columbus, Ohio in 2000. In his earlier years, Lee also was a proprietor of many businesses including dry cleaning shops, and Flowers By Maurice. Having sold nearly 40 paintings throughout his life, Lee was also a very skilled artist. He enjoyed golfing, and Civil War Era history.

Lee was baptized in 2011 at the Bridge Street Church of Christ in Chillicothe, where he attended with his wife when his health allowed. He was a life member of the V.F.W., where he served as commander in 1994-95, Vietnam Veterans of America, Amvets, Disabled American Veterans, and the Sons of the Union Veterans, where he also served as Commander in 2004, and became a life member in April 2011. He was a member of the American Legion, and a former member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

He is survived by his loving family wife, Lenora “Evelyn” Tyo, whom he married on August 1, 1999 in the Frankfort Church of Christ; son, Kevin Lee (Kimberly) Vititoe of Cecilia, KY; daughter, Renee Michele Vititoe of Columbus; step daughters, Tonya (Scott) Brown of Chillicothe and Laura (Scott) Spicher of Burlington, KY; step grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kyle, and Kara Brown and Abigail, Benjamin, Connor, and Andrew Jay Spicher.

In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Kay Volbrecht.

The family will receive friends at the Bridge Street Church of Christ, 147 N. Bridge St., Chillicothe, on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston, where full military honors will be observed by the Wellston American Legion, Post 371.
