Leonard E. Williams,74, a beloved and kind-hearted resident of Wellston, Ohio, passed away on April 30, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on November 18, 1951, in Wellston, Ohio, the son of the late Willard and Gail (Sorrell) Williams.

Leonard was known for his caring nature and gentle spirit, qualities that endeared him to those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a hard worker, having been employed with Merillat Cabinetry from 1979 until its closure. A lifelong outdoorsman, he cherished time spent in nature, with a particular passion for hunting. Leonard was an avid bow hunter and took great pride in being a member of the Wellston Bow Hunters' Club. His love for the outdoors was not just a pastime but a significant part of his identity and joy.

Among Leonard's proudest accomplishments was his work as a projectionist at several local theaters, including the Louvee, Markay, and the Town and Country drive-in theater in Coalton. This craft became a cherished hobby he embraced from the young age of twelve, reflecting his dedication and enthusiasm for bringing entertainment to his community.  Whether you knew it or not, Leonard has likely impacted your life through his work as a projectionist. 

Leonard was a devoted father to his daughters, Amy Steele and Amanda Williams, who survive him along with his treasured grandchildren, Hayden and Zella Steele. He was also fortunate to have the loving companionship and support of his friend and caregiver, Betsy Williams. In addition, Leonard is mourned by his brothers, Raymond Williams and his wife Jane, and David Williams, as well as several nephews and a niece, who all hold fond memories of him in their hearts.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on May 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W Broadway Street, Wellston, Ohio. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
