Leona (Ferguson) Sanecki

Leona Sanecki, 75, of Hamden, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. She was born April 22, 1949, in Osborn, Ohio, daughter of the late Robert and Flora Ferguson.

Leona's life was a beautiful symphony of love, faith, and music. She was a dedicated medic in the Air Force, serving her country with honor before embracing her most cherished roles as a mother to her two children. After graduating from Shawnee High School, Leona attended Wittenberg University on a full music scholarship, a testament to her extraordinary talent and passion for music, which she carried throughout her life.

Leona's love for church and music was evident in everything she did. She and her sisters would often share their harmonious voices, singing bluegrass and gospel music on the radio, spreading joy and inspiration to all who listened. Her deep faith was reflected in her commitment to reading the entire Bible each year, a practice that grounded her and shaped her values.

A true nurturer, Leona found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a special talent for baking, and her homemade lemon meringue pie was a favorite, with many eager to learn her recipe. Her devotion to her family extended to found family, sharing music and love with all who came into her circle.

Leona was an avid coffee lover, often seen with a warm cup in hand, and a sweet tooth for desserts that brought her immense joy. Her vibrant spirit and love for life touched everyone who knew her, leaving a lasting impact on family, friends, and the community.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Michaelina Woodson and Angela (Micheal) Mink; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special friend, Effie Mullins; as well as several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends who will forever remember her warmth, laughter, and unwavering faith. And Feather.

In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by three brothers, and seven sisters.

A memorial service, celebrating Leona's life will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Renovate Life Church of God in McArthur, with Pastor James Dimel officiating.

Leona Ferguson Sanecki will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace.
