Lane O. Graves, Jr., 81, of McArthur, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at his home. He was born September 17, 1942, in Allensville, Ohio, son of the late Lane and Dora (Morris) Graves. Lane retired from the Mead Corporation in 2005 after 18 years but spent his life working many other jobs including Adelman Lumber, Austin Powder, Tom Barnett Logging, Puckett Logging, and Union Springs. He was a member of Antioch Church, and enjoyed being outdoors, taking care of his yard, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed the bean dinner he and his family held each year.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Margaret (Cockrell) Graves; children: Crystal Andrews (Rick Ellis), Dale (Ruth) Graves, Jerry (Robin) Graves, Jason Graves, Rob (Brenda) Porter, and Jimmy Porter; nine grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Janis Brown; brother, Brad (Karen) Graves; as well as several nieces and nephews and his dog, Skeeter.

In addition to his parents, Lane was preceded in death by a daughter, Jody; sisters, Geraldine Cyrus, Roma Knox, and Priscilla Graves; and daughter-in-law, Betty Graves.

In keeping with Lane’s wishes his body will be cremated and no public services will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
