Kathy Ann (Hicks) Ewing

Kathy Ann Ewing, 61, of Wellston, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at her home. She was born September 25, 1961, in Grundy, Virginia, daughter of the late William Donald Hicks and Nellfern (Thompson) Hicks, who survives. Throughout the years Kathy was employed by Jackson-Vinton Community action and General Mills. The role she adored most, however, was that of a homemaker. She loved her children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. She enjoyed crocheting, needle stitching, and working crossword puzzles. She will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her mother, Kathy is survived by her sons, Michael (Janetta) Ewing, and Patrick (Jennifer) Ewing; seven grandchildren: Gabriel, Hunter, Elijah, Connor, Zaylee, Eric, and Alex; husband, Ron; a brother, Gary Hicks; sisters, Wanda Hurt, Jennifer Blackburn, and Billy Sheads; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Timmy, and a sister, Donna Fitzwater.

A funeral service celebrating Kathy’s life will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 West Broadway St., Wellston, with Pastor Michael Jadrnicek officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home also on Wednesday two hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be given to the funeral home to help with expenses.
