John L. Channell

John L. Channell, 63, of Wellston, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Four Winds Community in Jackson. He was born on November 24, 1953 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Arthur Clyde and Hilda Roberta (Anderson) Channell. John was a 1972 graduate of Wellston High School, a member of the Sons of the American Legion, the V.F.W., and the F.O.P.. He served the City of Wellston as a police officer for over 15 years before he was forced to enter disability retirement. An outdoorsman at heart, John enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and gun collecting. He loved his kids and his beautiful granddaughter. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his children: Arthur Lee Channell and Martha Channell (Ty Lilly); granddaughter, Harmony Grace Lilly, brother, Arthur K. (Sherry) Channell; nephew, Arthur K. (Amie) Channell, Jr.; niece, Mendy R. Channell (Scott R.) Wilson; special friend, Diana Wright; as well as a great-niece and three great-nephews: Lyndsey, Caleb, Alex, and Michael.

A funeral service celebrating John’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston, with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m.
