Emogene Cahoon, 89, of Wellston, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. She was born June 26, 1933, in Jackson County, Ohio, daughter of the late Lloyd and Evelyn (Denney) Farley. Emogene was a very strong lady who worked for Cuppenheimer Pants factory in Wellston as well as Jackson County Farm Services. A role she was most proud to fill, however, was that of a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, watching the birds, decorating her yard and tending her flowers beds. She was a caregiver and devoted wife to her husband, Carroll, who preceded her in death on May 27, 2022. Together they crafted woodworks for years selling them at local flea markets. While Emogene will be greatly missed it is comforting to know that she is now reunited with her “bubby.”
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Rick) Abrahamson and Linda (Cathy Carlisle) Cahoon; son, Melvin (Patty) Cahoon; seven grandchildren, Amber (Jeff) Scholl, Mike (Karen Eberts) Vickers, Riley (Jessica) Abrahamson, Carroll (Cortney) Cahoon II, Joel (Tammy Cordell) Cahoon, Caitlin (Erik) Day, and Tammy VanDyke; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Verna Perry; as well as several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Andy Nelson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Emogene was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Farley; and sisters, Fredelene Wagoner and Irene Perry.
A funeral service celebrating Emogene’s life will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, Wellston, with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Pattonsville Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m.
