Eleanor M. Powell

Eleanor Toole Powell, 85 of Oak Hill, Ohio, died on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at her home. She was born on January 7, 1941, in Taft, Florida, the daughter of the late Reverend Ellie Moses Toole and Dovie Grace (Temples) Toole, the second of four children: Buford Carter Toole, the late Sharon Gail Shreve, and the late Gaylord Jerry Toole.

Eleanor was a woman of elegant grace, with a quick wit and charm, who demonstrated a lovingly straightforward approach in life and a deep sense of style. Eleanor loved Jesus and was a strong prayer warrior devoted to her family. She enjoyed entertaining and loved southern gospel music.

In 1957, she married the love of her life, the late Frankie Ray Powell, Sr., and they had four children. They were incredibly involved in the Taft Church of God and began their music ministry while raising their young family. The family traveled and ministered the Gospel of Jesus Christ in song throughout the southern states. After retirement, she and Frankie settled in Oak Hill, Ohio, where she remained until her passing.

Eleanor will forever be cherished by her loving children: sons, Frankie Ray Powell, Jr. (Terry) of Tavares, Florida, and Vinson Owen Powell (Stephanie) of Oak Hill, Ohio; daughters, Pamela Powell Johnson (Keith) of Winter Garden, Florida and Eleanor Melissa Powell Sanchez (Jesus) of Apopka, Florida; her grandchildren: Dallas Powell, Sara Powell, Matthew Powell, Taylor Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Ashley Powell, Kristen McNelly, Nataly Powell, and Makiyah Powell; six great-grandchildren: and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
