Clair L. Ponn

Clair L. Ponn, 86, of Wilkesville, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his home. He was born on July 4, 1930 in Alice, Ohio, son of the late Francis L. and Marie (Reed) Ponn. Clair proudly served his country in the United States Navy. An outdoorsmen at heart, he loved studying all different types of animals. He had the privilege of travelling to Africa for an extensive safari trip. He enjoyed nature and all of creation. He was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his loving family: son, Roger; grandsons, Clayton and Roy; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; brother, Herbert; many nieces and nephews; as well as many wonderful caregivers and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Ponn on March 8, 2005; his son, Randall; brother, Donald; and two sisters, Frances and Alice May.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 West Broadway St., Wellston, from 3 to 5 p.m. Private burial will be in Geers Mill Cemetery.
