Christopher D. Waugh, 40, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, following a brief illness. He was born August 11, 1984, in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of Warren D. and LuAnn (Yates) Waugh, who survive. Chris was a 2002 graduate of Wellston High School and continued his education at Shawnee State University graduating in 2005. He was currently employed with Novant Health Incorporated as a Compliance Liaison, a job he dearly loved. Prior to his move to North Carolina, Chris was employed with Adean Health Systems.
Chris was a very gentle, kind-hearted person. At one time, he served as a volunteer firefighter for his hometown of Wellston, Ohio. He was a member of the Black Diamond Lodge #538 F&AM, also in Wellston. He owned and operated Studio 10 Photography for nearly 20 years capturing special life moments for many in the area. He loved travelling and had a great fascination with trains, planes, and automobiles. He was a man of great taste and liked to enjoy some finer things life had to offer. He worked hard to pursue his dreams and proudly reaped the fruit of his labors. He was generous in spirit and gladly shared with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents, Warren and LuAnn Waugh; uncles, Anthony “Guy” and Carol Waugh; Rodney and Christina Yates, and Danny Yates; aunts, Wanda Whitt, and Brenda and Greg Foster; as well as special friends, Brandon Hughett, Katie Phillips, Tammi Ervin, and Kim and Dave Burroughs; as well as his Novant Team and many cousins and other friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Margie Waugh, and David and Anise M. Yates; as well as an aunt, Linda Malone; uncle, Robert Whitt; and special friend, Darrin Dreyer.
A funeral service celebrating Chris’ life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston, with Pastor John Pelletier officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 5 to 8. A masonic service will be held to close out the evening commencing at 7:45 p.m.
