EmmaJean Weaver Kirby, also known as, “Grandma Zuko” on WCOL, 85, of Grove City, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, at her home. She was born on November 11, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles W. Weaver and Arlene Thelma (Hoover) Weaver. EmmaJean was a member of the Grace of God Lutheran Church in Grove City, the Moose Lodge, and the Red Hat Society. She spent many years selling real estate with her late husband, Jim. During that time, she honed her skills at negotiating and up to just a few weeks before her death, was still getting some of the best deals around.
She was a professional shopper, who never passed by a good garage sale without stopping. In her younger days, she was a part of a square-dancing group and played cards quite often especially 500-Rummy. In her older years she gained “fame,” by her role as Grandma Zuko on Columbus’ best Country Music station, WCOL. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Many will greatly miss her.
She is survived by her children: Chuck (Debbie) Kirby and Vonnie (Chad) Moore; 13 grandchildren: Rich (Jill), Shawn (Amanda), Brian (Amy), Joe (Jessica), Dan (Amy), Kim, Will (Curtis), James, Katlyn, Leanne, Cameron, Justin, and Kathryn; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; aunt, Lucille Dean; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bender; son-in-law, Lou Dimel; and special friend, Kay Kaiser.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Kirby on June 12, 2016; and daughter, Cindy Dimel.
